Our Two-Party Duopoly: The Delusion of Difference

Liberals and conservatives need to wake up to the reality that the real problem is not on the left or the right. The real problem is at the top! The only way the oligarchs and plutocrats and professional politicians in Congress can continue to control and oppress the American people…is by keeping us divided. If, therefore, we are to return political and economic power to the American people, we must first come together. We must abandon the two-party duopoly, America’s two corporate-controlled parties, and then find the will to unite and organize and reassert control over the ruling elites and professional politicians from both parties.

Thus, one of the biggest challenges facing the Progressive Bull Moose Party is helping Americans to see that—when it comes to issues of political and economic power—the two corporate-controlled parties (i.e. Democrats and Republicans) are essentially the same–that we (i.e. the Progressive Bull Moose Party) are the only real difference. In the words of MIT’s Noam Chomsky, “In the U.S., there is basically one party—the business party. It has two factions, called Democrats and Republicans, which are somewhat different but carry out variations on the same policies. By and large, I am opposed to those policies—as is most of the population.” As is the Bull Moose. We are the party of the people. We are the party of the middle class and the working poor. “Let the people rule.”
