"History doesn't repeat itself," Mark Twain once said, "but it can rhyme." Unfortunately, in America today, we are beginning to echo our own early history—the history of oppression early Americans suffered under the tyranny of the British King. Yet, as if living under the tyranny of an oppressive, corporate-controlled regime was not troubling enough, we are also repeating the history of America's Gilded Age, a time of extreme social and economic inequalities, a time that Theodore Roosevelt lived through and worked hard to correct. It was a time that eventually led to the Progressive Era, and, for his part, led TR to found the Progressive "Bull Moose" Party.

Roosevelt's words--captured in the Progressive Platform of 1912—ring with what is today an alarmingly relevant and timely condemnation of America's two major parties; and the urgent need for a new party, a party focused on restoring power to the people. "The deliberate betrayal," he said, "of its trust by the Republican Party, and the fatal incapacity of the Democratic Party to deal with the new issues of the new time, have compelled the people to forge a new instrument of government through which to give effect to their will in laws and institutions."

Roosevelt went on to describe the intent of the formation of the Progressive "Bull Moose" Party: "Unhampered by tradition, uncorrupted by power, undismayed by the magnitude of the task, the new party offers itself as the instrument of the people to sweep away old abuses, to build a new and nobler commonwealth."

Clearly the "old abuses" are back. But, with your help, we can once again take the leadership of our country back from the professional politicians. We can take the reins of power away from the ruling elites. We can rewrite the rules of the game, resurrect the middle class, and fulfill the people's vision of the American dream. Join with us today, and together we—the new Progressive Bull Moose Party—will clean out the U.S. Congress and sweep away the political and economic tyranny that the Democratic and Republican parties have proven so utterly incapable and unwilling to stop.
